Kaiwhakahaere marumaru | Emergency Management Officer South Waikato
The position holder will be employed by Matamata-Piako District Council while working at South Waikato under a Service Level Agreement.

Join us as an Emergency Management Officer and play a key role in helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. This is a meaningful, hands-on role where your work directly strengthens community resilience across the South Waikato.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working alongside iwi, communities, and partner agencies to build readiness and resilience
- Planning, coordinating and supporting emergency response activities
- Delivering training, exercises and community education programmes
- Developing and maintaining emergency management plans and procedures
- Supporting response efforts during real events (including being part of a duty roster)
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in emergency management or a related field
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Ability to stay calm and organised in high-pressure situations
