Water and Wastewater Treatment Technician - Cadet
There’s more than one reason we were named New Zealand’s ‘Most Beautiful City’ in 2017. The Tararua Ranges soar above the valley, our rivers are perfect for a swim and our award-winning parks create acres of greenspace in the heart of town. And the commute? Let’s just say you can be most places inside of 10 minutes in our neck of the woods. Skip sitting at traffic lights (there aren’t any here) and get on with doing the things that make life good.
The Government is currently reviewing the three waters services across New Zealand and building a system that meets the needs and expectations of our communities, now and into the future.
Every day an average of 13.5 million litres of water is provided to urban Masterton for safe drinking and sanitation and 13 million litres of wastewater flows into our Homebush wastewater treatment plant.
We have an outstanding opportunity for two technically minded people to learn on the job and get qualified in an industry that is in an exciting period of transformation.
We are looking for two enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated people with great attitudes, to join our Water and Wastewater treatment team in the role of Technician - Cadet.
You will be expected to hold, or be willing to work towards Level 4 NZ Certificate in Water Treatment. You will have full support and on the job training from a dedicated and knowledgeable team that manages and operates the water systems of our District.
As a Cadet, you don’t need specific experience in the industry, however it is important to have a genuine interest and commitment to learning about the process of treating water. To thrive in our operational and physically demanding environment, you will need to be flexible, enjoy hands-on activity, problem solving and will be comfortable working with technology.
In return you will learn new skills through a structured training programme, including gaining an industry standard level four qualification in water treatment.
We offer great benefits like five weeks of annual leave every year, medical insurance, and a dedicated training budget to help you develop your skills.
Please see the position description for further information about the role.
To apply for the role please email email@example.com with a covering letter explaining how you match the requirements above, and a copy of your CV.
Applications close 5pm Friday, 2 July 2021.
