Waste Management and Minimisation Officer


Carterton District Council is seeking a dedicated Waste Management and Minimisation Officer to join our Infrastructure Team. Our council supports the residents, business and ratepayers who call Carterton home, and in this role, you’ll be working alongside our community in fostering sustainable waste management initiatives that protect our environment and manage solid waste.

 

About the Role | Mō te tūranga

 

In this role, you’ll be:

  • Supporting the Wellington Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP) and Local Action Plan (LAP)
  • Overseeing solid waste facilities and service providers
  • Collecting, managing, and reporting on waste data in line with national standards
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance waste management practices.

 

About You | Ko wai koe 

 

Our ideal candidate will likely have:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in waste minimisation or solid waste management
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Project management and data reporting experience
  • A commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

 

Candidates must be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the role, including overseeing waste facilities and participating in hands-on activities related to waste management from time to time.
