We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Vetting Officer to act as the first point of contact for clients of the Building Consent Authority (BCA) and Territorial Authority (TA). This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional, or someone ready to take the next step in their career, to make a real impact in a regulatory environment.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for customers engaging with the Building Consent Authority (BCA) and Territorial Authority (TA).
  • Ensuring applications for BCA and TA functions are of an acceptable standard and sufficient quality to enable efficient processing within statutory timeframes.
  • Providing a high level of professional customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Providing accurate advice to customers in accordance with relevant legislation and Council requirements.
  • Reviewing applications to ensure all necessary documentation and information is included prior to processing.
  • Maintaining knowledge and keeping up to date with relevant Acts, Statutes, Bylaws, Regulations and Council Policies to ensure these are applied correctly.

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a frontline customer service role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage records, databases and administrative processes effectively.
  • Experience within the Building Control sector is desirable.
  • An understanding of the Building Act 2004 and the New Zealand Building Code is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications for consent applications is desirable.
