Venue and Events Coordinator


Are you passionate about helping make exciting things happen in the community? We're on the lookout for a Venue and Events Coordinator to join the Venues and Events team. In this role you'll be based at the Lincoln Event Centre.

About the role

Community halls and event centres are the heart of our towns, and the Venues and Events Coordinators host and support a range of recreation and community activities for all ages. They also provide facilities for meetings, functions, major events, and celebrations.

As the Venue and Events Coordinator, you'll be a welcoming host to all customers. You'll be responsible for taking bookings, planning, and delivering programme and events, along with a variety of operational tasks to keep the facility clean, tidy and ready for our customers.

You will also support the operation of the other community halls and centres that are in the eastern areas of Selwyn District.

The tasks of our Venues and Events Coordinators include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to customer enquiries and bookings
  • Getting things ready - setting up and packing down the hired spaces
  • Administrative tasks such as invoicing, marketing and communication
  • Building positive relationships customers and colleagues

This is a permanent role, working 40 hours a week across Tuesday to Saturday.

Tuesday: 8.30am - 5.00pm

Wednesday: 8.30am - 5.00pm

Thursday: 8.30am - 5.00pm

Friday: 8.30am - 5.00pm

Saturday: 8.00am - 4.30pm

While your home base will be Lincoln Event Centre, you will be required from time to time to work from other facilities across the district.

About You

As the Venue and Events Coordinator, you'll have previous customer service experience, and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of customer using Selwyn's facilities.

You'll understanding the operational requirements of a community facility, coupled with the ability to deliver events.

You will also be able to:

  • Manage your own time and workload accordingly
  • Be digital savvy, with the ability to learn new technology quickly while having experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Be confident and resilient team player with positive attitude and sense of humour.
  • Hold a Full New Zealand Driving License
