The opportunity - Te āheinga
Are you passionate about sustainable infrastructure and ready to lead transformative transport projects?
Join our new dynamic Delivery - Sustainability and Infrastructure team at NPDC as a Transportation Contract Programme Manager.
You would lead the Transport Contract Programme, providing technical leadership and quality advice. Driving performance within the New Plymouth Infrastructure Partnership, ensure effective communication with elected members and the community, and leading the delivery of the transport works programme. The role involves managing contracts, budgets, and compliance with regulations, while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and accountability for health, safety, and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua:
- Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
- Preparation of programmes of work for implementation with contractors
- Provide commercial tension on the roading contract
- Ensure contract documents and tenders are prepared in line with Council policy and legal requirements
- Manage Council's National Land Transport Programme effectively via Transport Investment Online
- Ensure Council's sustainable vision is effective through contract management
- Reporting of KPIs across the contract
- Support and inform the delivery of annual and long-term plans and the financial management of the transport delivery programme, driving commerciality
- Participate in procurement and delivery process, including design clarity and review delivery methodology
- Implement the identified Improvement programme and drive innovation in the way the forward works programme is delivered and integrated with other work programmes
- Strong stakeholder management with other contractors, stakeholders and NZTA Waka Kotahi
- Accountable for HSW within the contract
- Relevant civil engineering/traffic engineering qualification
- Contract management qualification or five years plus contract and programme management experience
- Demonstrated application of transport engineering design and standards
- Works collaboratively with others to enhance and/or develop team performance
- Takes responsibility and accountability for own actions and day to day decision making
- Effective performance and delivery within a political environment
- Maintains cultural awareness and keeps up to date with issues affecting the community and demonstrates an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and actively fosters partnerships with Māori, ensuring equitable opportunities and outcomes while respecting Māori cultural values
