Technical Archivist

Some places just offer more of what really counts, and the South Taranaki District is a perfect example. Our district has some of the most spectacular scenery in the world - wedged between Mt Taranaki's majestic cone and the rugged coastline of the Tasman Sea - the region boasts outdoor pursuits to satisfy even the most active individual and is alive with opportunities.

The South Taranaki District Council offers a proven "Best Place to Work" environment and the chance to join an energetic, progressive organisation. We encourage innovation, employee leadership development and you will be working with a dynamic and motivated team.

The Council is seeking a Technical Archivist to join its team. This is a permanent part-time position offering 30 core hours per week.

If you are a qualified Archivist or have at least three years of experience in a role of a similar nature and have a passion to raise awareness of our district's rich heritage, we want to hear from you.

In this role, you will be responsible for cataloguing, organising and managing the archives held at Aotea Utanganui, Museum of South Taranaki. The Museum uses Past Perfect; the successful applicant will need experience using this tool for collection management or be prepared to learn. You will supervise visitors to the archives, undertake research, respond to enquiries from the public and promote the archives to the South Taranaki community.

As a member of the Museum team, you will have front of house duties and assist with exhibitions and educational programmes.

If this role appeals to you, head over to our website where you can access the background information and job description for the role. If submitting an application, please ensure you provide a covering letter outlining your skills and experience for the role along with your most current CV.
