Team Leader – Strategic Property
We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader within our Strategic Investment & Commercial Facilitation team to lead a group of Strategic Property Advisors. This team is responsible for advising on Council’s property investment/divestment decisions and leading property matters that enable the delivery of many and varied projects for our communities.
Lead this team to deliver professional property advisory and transactional services for Council, and to find innovative solutions to issues and enable our customers and stakeholders to meet their objectives. Our work includes property investigation and strategic advisory work regarding current and potential property interests. It is central to the delivery of key infrastructure projects, the optimisation of Council property and development opportunities, and in facilitating great places for our communities.
As Team Leader you will lead, support and develop your team, providing our highly skilled individuals with your guidance and direction and being a sounding board as needed.
You will help resolve complex or contentious property issues; lead high-profile property deals for Council; prepare reports and present at Council meetings; negotiate with property owners, developers and other stakeholders; and engage with our community.
As we deal with various interests in land, you will need an appreciation for the Council’s relationship with Tangata Whenua, be willing to engage with Tangata Whenua, and seek to understand kaupapa Maori within the Tauranga Moana area.
We are looking for someone who has sound property experience, such as valuation, development or a legal background in this area. This role requires an entrepreneurial, responsive and strategic approach, backed by solid technical knowledge. You will be an excellent communicator with an ability to develop strong relationships and enjoy coaching and mentoring others.
