Team Leader - Policy, Land and Coast

We want more good people to come and do great things with us.

We love where we live. That's why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.

Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We've got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that's what makes it so interesting.

We're looking for someone who is a hands-on leader for our Land and Coast policy team that is responsible for preparing and maintaining our regional plans. We're at an exciting time in the programme where we are currently reviewing our Regional Coastal Plan and Regional Plan.

We are looking for a person with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant environmental Policy, Planning or Strategy discipline to lead the review of the Regional Coastal Plan. Experience in managing or leading people is preferable although we would consider first time people leader for the right person. You will have great interpersonal skills along with proven success at building relationships and resolving resource management issues.

The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide audience, and political awareness.  You will have the ability to inspire confidence in leading work, providing advice, and making decisions, culminating in the work programme delivery and communication of results.

Looking for flexible ways of working options, at Waikato Regional Council we are committed to working more creatively to 'get work done' in a way that is of mutual benefit to you, the organisation and our communities.
