We've farewelled our Team Leader Financial Accounting, who has been with Wellington City Council in a variety of roles for 22 years!

About us

Me Heke Ki Pōneke - Wellington City Council delivers over 400 services to over 200,000 residents and many businesses, improving the lives of Wellingtonians every day. We're working to ensure an inclusive, sustainable and creative capital for all.

Our Financial Control team where this role sits is responsible for creating the environment that ensures we meet our financial obligations and keep our assets safe through good internal controls, reconciliations and statutory financial reporting.

They are a centre of excellence for financial accounting - providing advice to wider Finance team as well as the Council as a whole.

The role

As Team Leader Financial Accounting, you'll be:

 

• leading and coaching a team of five subject matter experts
• ensuring a high standard of accounting services and financial reporting
• providing operational business support and analysis across the Council
• managing external relations with our partners and auditors.

A key part of this role is delivering an audit opinion regarding the financial component of our annual report.

 

About you

You'll be CA qualified and have experience dealing with complex financial accounting matters. Local government experience would be a plus, but it's not vital.

You'll have experience (and a passion for) managing people and helping them develop and grow.

The salary range for this role is $106,265.00 to $125,017.00 (where the successful candidate sits within this range will depend on experience)
