Team Leader - Consenting and Applications

Our friendly Consenting and Applications team are seeking a Team Leader - Consenting and Applications to lead and manage day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with the Building Act, Resource Management Act (RMA), and other relevant legislation. You will be responsible for overseeing efficient consent processing and high-quality customer service while supporting sustainable development and regulatory compliance.

The hours of work this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.

Key responsibilitie for this role include:

  • Lead, coach and motivate team members, encourage a workplace culture of shared ideas, problem solving and mutual support within and across teams
  • Overseeing workflow management for resource and building consents, ensuring applications are vetted, processed, and decided efficiently.
  • Contributing to and supporting the BCA accreditation process.
  • Monitoring contractor performance and collaborating with contractors, setting clear performance expectations and providing leadership
  • Leading a customer focussed approach to service delivery, representing ICC in public forums, industry events, and external engagements as required.
  • Overseeing the processing and coordination of PIM applications and reports, ensuring all PIM reports are processed and made available to the client within the relevant statutory timeframe.

What you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in building control, planning, resource management, or a related field.
  • Experience in building and/or resource consent processes, with a demonstrated understanding of the Building Act, RMA and related regulations
  • Previous experience in a leadership or coordination role, preferably within a local government context
  • Attention to detail, a high level of judgement with the ability to navigate and negotiate solutions to complex problems and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
  • NZ Drivers License
