Surface Water Asset Manager
About the role
Are you passionate about sustainable water management and strategic infrastructure planning?
Selwyn District Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Asset Manager to lead the development and implementation of our Surface Water Asset Management Plan and contribute to long-term infrastructure strategies
This is a pivotal role that blends technical expertise, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement to ensure our surface water assets are managed effectively and sustainably.
The functional areas of the role include:
- Assist with planning and budget development processes for the Long-Term Plan, Annual Plan and 30-year Infrastructure Strategy alongside Development of policy, strategy and plans for effective activity management
- Provide technical guidance on surface water activities including the treatment and provision of safe compliant stormwater discharges and flooding hazard across the district.
- Ensure RMA, District Plan and Engineering Code of Practice requirements are integrated into asset and operational planning.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Surface Water Asset Management Plan.
You will have proven experience in asset management, infrastructure planning, and water services. With a strong understanding of the Resource Management Act, District Plans, and engineering standards. Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills are a must have for this exciting role!
The ability to engage with stakeholders, including community groups, contractors, and other authorities. Alongside the above a collaborative mindset and commitment to sustainable infrastructure development is a must!
You will also bring:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering and/or resource management /Asset Management qualification
- At least 10 years' experience working in engineering asset management and/or water planning
- Demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining relationships across a broad range of sectors at senior level.
- Broad management skills including evidence-based budget management and people leadership
- Demonstrable experience working with Surface Water assets such as waterways, wetlands, land drainage networks, stock water reticulation, stormwater management devices etc.
- Understanding of various legislation including the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act Water Services Bill and a Local Government environment
- Excellent customer management skills including facilitating between parties with different objectives
- Ability to provide advice at a high level on engineering plans and designs against consent, code of practice and good practice requirements.
