About the role:

Do you enjoy looking at challenges from a strategic perspective? Ōpōtiki District Council is seeking a Strategic Policy Analyst to join our Strategy and Development Group. In this role, you will support the development of effective strategic planning and contribute to providing corporate policy solutions for Ōpōtiki District Council.

 

Responsibilities:

As the Strategic Policy Analyst, you will contribute to the design and development of Council’s strategic plans to ensure cultural, economic, environmental and social development, and growth across the district. You will be involved in project planning and work with key stakeholders to ensure that Council’s policies are fit-for-purpose.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Policy development and management
  • Strategic planning and development
  • Building and holding positive relationships both internally and externally
  • Encouraging engagement through consultations and communications with stakeholders, elected member, staff and community
  • Being part of a small team who monitor the delivery of the Long-Term Plan
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project strategies, plans and budgets for development projects
  • Monitoring legislative requirements and statutory obligations of Council

 

Ideally you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, e.g. public policy, planning, commerce or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in strategy and policy development
  • An understanding of policy development and alignment to legislative requirements
  • Good overall knowledge of relevant local government legislation
  • Experience in consultation and stakeholder engagement
  • High level of computer literacy using Microsoft Office
  • Understand and commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi
