Senior Roading Engineer

About the Role

Are you our new Senior Roading Engineer?

With its diverse roading network extending from Taranaki Maunga, through the urban area and out to the Eastern Hill Country, no two days will be the same! And throughout the entire network the views make it worth the drive!

Stratford District Council is recruiting for a Senior Roading Engineer to assist in the management of the roading infrastructure to provide a safe and efficient transport network in the Stratford District.

You will be responsible for the collection, storage, analysis, maintenance and management of the data to ensure robust decision making. You will undertake roading project inspections, assessments and reviews of contractor programmes, reports and claims as well as continual audits on programmed work. This role will also see you undertaking general contract procurement and team management.

This position is full time (40 hours per week) and will be located at the Stratford District Council, Miranda Street, Stratford, however flexible working arrangements may be available in time. The salary range for this position is $95,000- $105,000 per annum with the appointed starting level dependent on the skills and experience of the candidate.

About You

You will have a relevant tertiary civil engineering qualification experience with RAMM and AutoCAD and an understanding and commitment to asset, contract and project management.

You have the ability to plan, organise and manage situations - sometimes at short notice. You will work well as an individual but enjoy being part of a close knit team and you will have strong organisational, project and time management skills. Report writing and confidence to present to council meetings is a must. Previous experience with funding applications and liaising with New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) would be advantageous.

Local Government experience would be an advantage, however is not essential.
