Senior Resource Planner - 2 Year Fixed Term

Te wero – The Challenge

Northland is the fastest growing region of New Zealand where consent applications are at an all-time high, with no sign of slowing down.  This is a unique opportunity to progress your career where we require Senior Resource Planners for two-year fixed term appointments to help meet the demand of consent applications. The range of work you will be involved in includes:

  • The review, assessment and determination of resource consent applications in accordance with the provision of the Resource Management Act and the Operative and Proposed Far North District Plans.
  • Attending Hearings on behalf of Council, preparing associated reports and providing expert evidence to the Environment Court as and when required.
  • In conjunction with the Team Leader Resource Consents, provide guidance and mentoring for other planning staff and when required peer reviewing their work.  Providing professional, informed input into discussions relating to interpretation and application of planning provisions to better grow the teams understanding.
  • Playing a lead role in the development and maintenance of internal practice notes for use by processing staff to ensure a consistent interpretation of rules and legislation.

You will have a proven track record with four plus years’ experience with processing resource consents and are looking for the next step in your career.  You will thrive working in a fast-paced environment, which requires you to demonstrate a solution focused approach to new challenges.

    • Grade 17 within Council’s salary structure ($85,600 - $100,706 per annum)
