Senior Property Analyst

Part-time, 20 hours per week

Are you a strategic thinker with a sharp analytical mind and a passion for public service?

Whanganui District Council is looking for a skilled Senior Property Analyst to join our Parks & Property Team on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). This is a role where your reporting, analysis, and financial expertise will directly support the decisions that shape how Council manages and invests in its property portfolio — work that matters to the Whanganui community every day.

About the Role

As our Senior Property Analyst, you will provide high-quality reporting, oversee property valuations, leases and lease compliance, and monitor market conditions. You will provide oversight of contract metadata and reporting, along with expert analysis across the Parks & Property portfolio. You'll lead the preparation and rollout of the Annual Budget and Annual Plan, ensuring Council assets are managed effectively, sustainably, and in alignment with community needs.

This is a pivotal role where your insights will support sound decision-making, proactive risk management, and long-term planning for our community's assets and infrastructure.

What this role offers you

  • Active involvement in the Budget and Annual Plan process, where your work underpins sound financial planning and decision-making across the portfolio
  • The opportunity to provide clear, trusted advice to senior leaders, with your analysis informing real decisions at an organisational level
  • Variety across management reporting, feasibility studies, financial management, asset data, valuations, leases, and contract oversight — no two days look the same
  • A hands-on role in asset management planning, ensuring Council's property portfolio is well-maintained, accurately recorded, and strategically managed
  • An eye for business improvement, where you'll identify trends, analyse information, and recommend smarter ways of working
  • A part-time arrangement that offers real work-life balance without compromising the quality or impact of the work you do
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities to support your career growth
