At the heart of the region, Nelson City Council is a Unitary Authority responsible for providing key infrastructure, community facilities and services, economic development and a range of regulatory functions.
Always striving to deliver an even better service to their community Council have introduced a new service delivery model to help achieve their Capital Projects works programme. The various infrastructure projects include three waters, roading, and traffic improvements, walking and cycle ways, parks, and playground installations, facilities and building upgrades.
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager who will report to the Team Leader Capital Projects and will predominately work on projects within the 3-Waters space.
As a Senior Project Manager you will bring more than 8 years of experience in managing and delivering your own infrastructure/construction projects, and essential you hold a project management qualification e.g. PRINCE2, PMP and ideally a relevant engineering qualification. You will possess solid experience working within the infrastructure, engineering, capital works or client side or consultancy environments within New Zealand, with preference in the 3-Waters space.
You will have been successful in managing projects delivered by external contractors, be able to employ appropriate project management techniques to achieve strategic project objectives, have experience in optimising common processes and contributed positively to decision making across projects and helped to deliver the outcomes in a coordinated manner. To underpin your technical competencies, you will have excellent communications and relationship management skills as you will be representing Council throughout the project’s lifespan to delivery.
