Senior Planner – Monitoring and Compliance

Permanent Full Time

Dunedin is an amazing place to live and work, and if you were to ask anyone living here, they’ll tell you that there’s something indescribably special about our city. It’s small enough to feel like you’re part of a community, but big enough to ensure that there’s always something going on. From the great outdoors to arts, culture and education, all within 10 minutes of the city centre. Dunedin has so much to offer, so why not come and feel just how special it is?

  • Permanent, Full-time

We are looking for an experienced planner to provide technical leadership within the Resource Consents Team. The role is to oversee monitoring compliance of resource consents, respond to and investigate complaints, undertake enforcement where necessary, and provide advice to the public.

This position offers a broad exposure to a wide range of people and businesses, so an ability to build relationships is important. A professional and pragmatic approach is needed to make objective decisions on challenging issues. This position requires good interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organisation and high professional standards.

You will be actively involved in implementing and overseeing the portfolio of compliance and monitoring work, which includes supporting our legal counsel at the Environment and District Court and providing a high standard of evidence as required. You will also support the planner dealing with subdivision certification and our HSNO and compliance officer. Good experience in planning and monitoring, alongside a relevant qualification and a sound understanding of best practice would be ideal in this role.

If you are looking to take the next step in your planning career, want to work in a supportive team environment and have the ability to positively influence the planning team in one of the World’s great small cities, we welcome your application.
