The opportunity - Te āheinga

We’re on the lookout for a Senior Finance Partner to join our Finance and Planning team at NPDC. Reporting to the Finance Partner Lead, this is a high-impact role where you’ll be a trusted advisor working alongside leaders across Council to provide insightful financial and commercial advice that genuinely shapes strategic decision-making.

You’ll play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s financial accountability, enhancing reporting frameworks and ensuring decision-makers have access to clear, accurate and timely financial information.

Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua

  • Development of annual plans, budgets and financial forecasts
  • Ensure performance against budgets is continually monitored and reviewed
  • Development of financial models and analysis to support business cases, investment decisions and service delivery improvements
  • Support the development and implementation of performance metrics and KPIs to monitor financial and operational outcomes
  • Support and help with development of finance partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and service excellence
  • Champion continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting and business partnering practices
  • Support the Systems Accountant in the development and maintenance of Council financial systems
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment of financial information and reporting
  • Assist with development of Council accounting policies, practices, systems and documentation
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

  • Chartered Accountant or similar qualification
  • Minimum of five years post-qualification experience in financial management, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Sound system skills and experience working with ERP systems
  • Experience in local government accounting and finance

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $112,646 - $121,406.
