Senior Engineer - Three Waters Planning (Water)

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior, influence-heavy role where you’ll shape how water services evolve for New Plymouth’s long term water supply infrastructure. If you’re ready to move beyond delivery and into true infrastructure strategy, this role offers the platform.

·  Own and lead long-term infrastructure planning

·  Influence multi-million-dollar investment decisions

·  Work at the intersection of strategy, modelling, and real-world delivery

·  Be a key voice across council, iwi, and major stakeholders

·  Live and work in a region offering exceptional lifestyle balance

What You’ll Be Doing

You won’t just support projects - you’ll lead and shape them:

·  Develop and drive master planning - water

·  Lead infrastructure planning projects from concept through to strategy

·  Build and apply network models to inform critical decisions

·  Develop business cases that secure future investment

·  Partner across teams and stakeholders to align growth, planning, and delivery

·  Translate complex technical challenges into clear, strategic direction

What You Bring

·  Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent)

·  7+ years in Three Waters planning, design, or modelling

·  Strong capability in network modelling (Infoworks preferred)

·  Experience influencing infrastructure strategy or investment decisions

·  Confidence engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

·  Understanding of NZ regulatory frameworks (or ability to get up to speed quickly)

Why You’d Make the Move

This role offers something many don’t:

·  Real influence over infrastructure direction

·  A balance of technical depth + strategic thinking

·  Visibility across major regional projects

·  A council genuinely focused on future-ready water outcomes
