Senior / City Development Planner

This key role within our City Development Team is responsible for providing leadership to influence infrastructure planning, growth and development across the city, creating and maintaining relationships with internal and external growth, infrastructure and development customers. You’ll have great relationship skills, be development savvy, and quick to respond to internal and external customer needs.
Your primary focus will be to undertake residential and business capacity assessments, as required by the National Policy Statement Urban Development Capacity, and to implement the Nelson Housing Accord, under the Housing Accords and Special Housing Areas Act. You will thrive on the need to ensure development customers have an efficient and collaborative customer journey, which will give you broad exposure to Council’s diverse development activities, helping to shape the city and leverage development projects across the city.
We are seeking a person with a high level of development experience and demonstrated facilitation and relationship skills. You will have a tertiary qualification in either engineering, surveying, planning, architecture or a related field, as well as extensive experience in working to match growth and infrastructure planning in either the private or public sector.
