Roading Manager
The Roading Manager plays a key role in ensuring that Council is supported through efficient, effective and sustainable management of land transport assets and services and providing technical and strategic advice.
Key responsibilities in this Thames based role include:
- Providing outstanding customer services to our communities for our roading services
- Setting and managing opex and capex budgets and associated contracts
- Providing high quality leadership for the roading services team
- Establishing and maintaining a high-level collaborative approach with key stakeholders including elected members, internal staff, roading professional services provider, consultants, contractors and national agencies e.g. Waka Kotahi NZTA, Waikato Regional Council, Ministry for Environment etc.
- Providing technical and strategic advice for Council's roading services and associated assets.
What are we looking for?
An experienced leader who is an astute communicator, adept at political acumen and a problem solver. You will have an innovative mindset and ability to drive and influence successful outcomes. You will also need:
- Outstanding customer service and relationship building
- Well-developed financial and business acumen
- Experience working and collaborating with external agencies e.g. NZTA/MfE/MBIE etc.
- Proven experience in the development, procurement, and management of contracts for the delivery of service through external service providers
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori
- A tertiary civil engineering qualification with specialisation in highways / roading. This may be a BE or an NZCE (Civil) with several years’ experience.
- Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in a relevant field involving the provision of roading services
