Roading Assets Engineer
It's an exciting time to be in Invercargill and a privilege to work in this region.
You can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and endless recreational activities that Invercargill has to offer with Central Otago, Fiordland and the Catlins on our doorstep. As New Zealand's southernmost city we proudly encourage a good work-life balance and with direct flights to Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington the rest of the world is also within easy reach.
With a high level of confidence, our prosperous southern city is undergoing the biggest resurgence in its 166-year history. Invercargill's reputation for being family-friendly is well deserved, with affordable housing, great schools, and amazing facilities.
The Roading Assets Engineer is a key part of the Roading Team and provides suitable technical and practical experience to ensure traffic-related matters within the City network are reviewed and addressed, with a view to ensuring a safe and efficient traffic network for our City. You will be an advocate for traffic safety and active mode transport, overseeing and contributing to the delivery of related projects to meet Council's objectives and the needs of road users, applying your experience and knowledge to ensure successful outcomes.
You will work closely with the Manager - Roading to manage work within the road corridor, traffic management plans, road closure management, Road Safety Audits and service requests. This is a great opportunity to take ownership and work closely with the public, Council, consultants, and contractors to deliver outstanding results.
This role will suit someone who has technical expertise in traffic and network management and significant experience in these areas. Strong organisation and verbal communication skills are essential for this varied and challenging position, and Local Government experience is desirable.
The rewards for this position include a competitive salary package, great working conditions and a very supportive and friendly team environment where you really can make a difference to a city undergoing significant redevelopment.
At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.
