The Waikato district borders New Zealand's largest city, and is the gateway to the rest of the country. It has been experiencing unprecedented growth with land and infrastructure development, and this has led to some new and exciting opportunities. We are looking for an effective roading expert to join the Strategic Roading team and apply their skills within our fast growing region.

Waikato District Council has a roading alliance with Downer NZ, who are responsible for all roading maintenance programs. This role will sit outside of this alliance and support the Strategic Roading Team Leader with the effective management of strategic asset management processes.

The role will manage funding applications, developing relationships with Council's key funding partners and other stakeholders in the regional asset management initiatives, such as RATA.  The role will also provide technical roading asset management support to the wider team, and represent Council at external workshops and conferences. A core part of your role is assisting in the development of the Long Term Plan and Activity Management Plans.

Working in the Asset Management team you will be well supported and provided with the tools you need to expand your experience.

The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in a relevant and demonstrable experience in asset management and/or planning role. Knowledge of Local Government Roading and Transportation management practices and legislative requirements are desired. You will also show effective communication skills as well as a strong ability to grow and foster relationships.

This role offers plenty of variety, is well resourced, and would suit someone who is looking to work within a highly engaged workforce.

If this role sounds like an opportunity you would enjoy, we would love to hear from you.
