Road Asset Information Technician

Are you passionate about infrastructure data and want to play a vital role in supporting the future of Waimate's roading network?
Waimate District Council is looking for a detail-focused and motivated Road Asset Information Technician to join our Roading team. In this key role, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining our Road Assessment and Maintenance Management (RAMM) system to ensure accurate, up-to-date asset data.
This data helps guide critical decisions around maintenance planning, investment, and reporting for our district's roads — both now and into the future.
What you'll be doing:
- Pulling together road data from different sources
- Keeping the RAMM database accurate and up to date
- Running reports and analysing data to help with planning and compliance
- Supporting and training others who use the RAMM system
- Working with NZTA standards and helping improve our asset management tools

You'll bring:
- Experience using RAMM or similar asset management systems
- Strong attention to detail, with analytical and problem-solving skills
- A good grasp of road infrastructure and asset data
- Clear communication skills — especially when talking tech to non-tech folks
- Confidence with Excel, and ideally some knowledge of GIS or spatial data
Please note: You will need to have and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand, and a have a full, current driver licence to apply for this role. This position is subject to a satisfactory Police check and Credit check.
