Records Assistant - Part-time
About the role:
Selwyn District Council's Information Management team is looking for a Records Assistant to join us on a part-time basis (0.5 FTE / 20 hours per week). We're open to school-hour arrangements and this role was designed with working parents and those returning to the profession in mind.
You'll be part of a small, specialist team that takes information management seriously. Records management is a real discipline here, not an afterthought. You'll assist with the day-to-day processing and maintenance of Council's electronic and physical records, keeping our information systems accurate, accessible and well-organised, and supporting compliance with the Public Records Act 2005.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Process and maintain Council's electronic and physical records in line with classification schemes, retention schedules and naming standards
- Provide SharePoint support and expertise to the team and wider Council
- Respond to internal record retrieval requests accurately and promptly
- Support Council's Public Records Act 2005 compliance by following approved policies and procedures
- Handle records that feed into LIM production, consents processing, and compliance activity
- Identify opportunities to improve routine records processes and contribute practical feedback to the team

You take pride in doing things right the first time, you follow through reliably, and you're comfortable in digital systems, particularly SharePoint.

You will also have:
- 2+ years' experience in a records or information management
- Confidence using SharePoint and standard Microsoft 365 tools
- Strong organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- A relevant qualification in Records and Information Management or equivalent experience
- Experience in a local or central government environment (desirable)
