He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council is one of the largest local government authorities in the South Pacific and contracts out a range of work from design and delivery of underground infrastructure through to community engagement.

We would like to hear from senior contracts managers with broad experience in high value and complex infrastructure projects, along with experience in teaching, mentoring and coaching.

You will be part of a small team that works across Auckland Council to define what ‘best practice’ means for contract management of infrastructure contracts, and to enhance the contracts culture towards maximising value for ratepayers' money. You will be accountable for developing training materials, templates and tools, to help inspire and embed good contract management across the organisation. You will get to work with project and contract managers from a diverse range of backgrounds and project types and be a part of setting council’s success for years to come.

The role sits within Engineering and Technical Services (ETS), led by Council's Chief Engineer Sarah Sinclair.  ETS consists of a group of engineering, technical and contract specialists, providing engineering and technical expertise, including assistance with the management of council's high-risk assets. The success of our team relies on strong relationships with related teams throughout council such as Procurement, Legal, and Finance; as well as the delivery teams that are building, maintaining and renewing Auckland’s critical infrastructure.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You are an experienced contracts manager, having been a consulting engineer, project manager, key accounts manager or similar.  You have managed a diverse range of infrastructure-related contracts, including professional services and construction, on either the client or consultant/contractor side. You are now looking forward to sharing your experience, knowledge and insights about how contractors and consultants work. You have a talent for developing and delivering training for a range of levels of expertise, and you have the drive to effect culture change within the organisation.

You are a natural influencer and relationship builder, and you relish the opportunity to work closely with contract managers and subject matter experts across council.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

Beyond a competitive salary, we offer you the opportunity to be part of a diverse organisation and a well-respected and influential team.  You'll get the chance to positively influence the direction of infrastructure contracts at council, being involved in a wide variety of subjects and projects.

If you are high performing, passionate about Auckland, and would like the opportunity to facilitate making tangible improvements to our city and the surrounding environment, then join us. Apply today (telling us why you are interested in and right for this opportunity) by cover letter along with your CV.
