Principal Advisor - Strategic Transport

The Planning & Strategic Transport Unit is at the forefront of managing the rapid and exciting transformation of the City so that Christchurch in the future is a resilient city, prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. The team has responsibility for:
- developing, implementing and monitoring the Christchurch Transport Plan;
- contributing to collaborative planning and strategic transport initiatives at a Greater Christchurch and regional level;
- supporting integrated planning within Council through the provision of strategic transport analysis and advice; and
- advising senior leadership and elected members on emerging transport policy developments.
As Principal Advisor, Strategic Transport you will be responsible for leading, shaping and delivering key strategic transport initiatives within Council and along-side our partner agencies. You will be well versed in emerging directions in transport policy and planning - including: the role that transport policy will play in emissions reduction, and the integration of multi-modal transport and land-use planning.
We're interested in candidates with 7-10+ years' experience in transport policy and planning; transport strategy development and implementation; provision of strategic advice and the ability to turn technical concepts into 'plain english'; managing projects; and working within or working with local and/or central government agencies.

Hours of work - Full-time, permanent
The salary range for this role is approximately $106,871 - $119,033 per annum, depending on the agreement and successful candidates skills and experience
Location - This position is primarily based at Civic Offices, 53 Hereford St
