Planning Technical Support Officer

The Kapiti Coast District Council is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our planning team. With a knowledgeable and innovative leadership team we offer the opportunity to commence or continue your career by working on a range of diverse resource management tasks and projects in a friendly and supportive team environment. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of the Resource Management Act, be well organised and someone who enjoys interacting with an engaged development community and technical officers within our planning teams.

This role would be perfect for someone that wants to be involved in the planning industry and has an interest in learning and growing. The position will involve both administration functions and processing minor planning approvals which include being responsible for arranging pre-application meetings and resource consent hearings, keeping web pages updated, financial administration, processing of district planning checks, LIM's and other planning approvals. This role will be the lead admin support to the team and will provide good variety and experience.

Key requirements for this role:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in planning
  • General knowledge and understanding of the RMA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated proactive and collaborative approach
  • Great written and oral communication
  • Experience in administration and financial management
