The opportunity - Te āheinga

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Lead to lead our Resource Consents team.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning process, manage a team of planners, and collaborate with stakeholders to shape the future growth and development of New Plymouth District.

Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua:

  • Provide RMA expertise and process RMA and related applications
  • Monitor workflow and team throughput to ensure compliance with statutory time frames
  • Drive continuous improvement, team training, and own team quality system in conjunction with Team Lead and Reg services QA officers
  • Provide support and guidance to other planners in the Consents Team
  • Process complex resource consent applications and provide expert evidence at planning hearings
  • Ensure customer needs are met and deliver a high quality and cost-effective service
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry sectors
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key resource management legislation
  • Actively ensure that good employer obligations and legislative requirements are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako:

  • Relevant tertiary resource management qualification
  • Eligibility for membership of a professional institute
  • Extensive experience (ideally six years plus) in a resource management field, preferably in local government

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $111,531 and $120,204.
