Help us revitalise and shape our district, townships and public spaces. Lead implementation of key initiatives in Waitaki's Economic Development strategy.
We are on a Transformation journey and have a newly created role for a full time, fixed term Placemaking Lead to join our Economic Development Team at the Waitaki District Council. Based in Ōamaru, this role will lead a programme of work to improve urban vitality and deliver sustainable and inclusive growth that benefits the community and enhances Waitaki as a great place to live, work, visit and explore.
We're looking for an outcome focused professional and a natural collaborator to help influence, shape and deliver key programmes of work in our ambitious Waitaki Economic Development strategy.
About the role
It is an exciting time to join our team. This role will connect the dots with other business units within Council and collaborate across a range of partners and stakeholders to define and deliver outcomes that support sustainable economic growth and improve Central Business District vibrancy in Ōamaru and our rural townships. Waitaki is rich in history. Effective storytelling and creating engaging environments will be important to bring our identity to life in a way that resonates with our residents, businesses and visitors.
- Shape and deliver place-based initiatives which improve social and economic outcomes
- Ensure a strategic approach to the development of our places, drawing on existing plans, ensuring linkage and integration, and engaging external and internal stakeholders to deliver
- Help strengthen our district's identity through creative and effective storytelling and experiences
- Mobilise local communities, businesses and council departments to collaborate and partner to transform our townships and public spaces
- Lead an enabling partnership approach to shape our place and broaden our offer
An experienced professional with knowledge of land use planning, development and approaches to placemaking and regeneration. You thrive leading teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for our community. Strategically savvy, you are comfortable working with ambiguity in a fast paced, delivery focussed environment.
- Skilled in programme/project management and delivery
- Strategically minded - able to conceptualise, develop and execute plans
- A great communicator
- Experienced in building and maintaining strong partnerships and productive relationships
