  • Passionate about our parks and reserves?
  • Looking for a leadership opportunity?
  • Want to make a positive difference?
Wellington has a dynamic, creative, highly-educated population, and has repeatedly topped the list of the world's most liveable cities. Wellington's open spaces and natural areas are huge part of what makes Wellington unique. They are well used and valued by a huge number of Wellingtonians and visitors. This proximity to nature plays a key role in Wellingtonians' excellent quality of life and great experiences.

We're looking for a leader passionate about parks and reserves to join us as Park Services Manager. You will lead a dedicated team of Park Rangers and oversee the management of the city's natural areas including the Wellington Town Belt, coast and reserves. You will have a strong visitor focus to ensure we provide safe, vibrant and enjoyable spaces for the community to use.

You will work collaboratively with teams across Council to advocate for the environmental and recreational values the City has to offer. What we would love to see is your proven ability to build and maintain credible relationships with people from all backgrounds and at all levels.

A key part of this role is engaging with the community to deliver the best outcomes for Wellington's parks and reserves, and the people that use them. You will need to demonstrate leadership behaviours in all that you do, and inspire others to help you achieve your vision. You would make best use of complementary skills within the wider Council to oversee an integrated and visitor minded operation.

To be successful in this crucial and influential leadership role, you will be someone who can confidently make decisions, where community expectations are high and business challenges the norm. We are looking for a strategic thinker who is future focused, and understands the challenges and opportunities that we face.

If you believe you have the experience and skills to manage our parks and reserves then we are eager to hear from you! For more information, you are welcome to get in touch with Myfanwy Emeny, Open Space and Parks Manager, on 021 227 8549.
