  • Promote the effective management of natural hazards in the Otago region, especially in relation to land use, Regional Policy Statement and District Plans.
  • Lead a small team (two direct reports), providing direction and support and enabling the team to perform at its best.
  • Engage with community and project stakeholders, and form collaborative working relationships internally and with councils, regulatory authorities, consultants and contractors.

Your Skills:

  • A tertiary qualification in social science; environmental science or engineering; geography, policy and planning; or earth or physical science.
  • Five plus years of related experience, which could include: community engagement and consultation; policy and planning; environmental management; natural hazards management; climate change adaptation; disaster risk reduction.
  • Experienced in project and programme management.
  • Able to think strategically and shape direction.
  • Scientific curiosity coupled with the ability to assimilate a wide range of information.
