The opportunity - Te āheinga

Join our dedicated Three Waters team at New Plymouth District Council as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment across our water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and other critical sites.

Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua:

  • Undertake inspections and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment at the water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and other sites
  • Prepare condition assessments and create work orders
  • Seek ways to optimise and improve mechanical maintenance schedules
  • Provide input for schedules if required with the Asset Planner
  • Undertake mechanical repairs and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment at the water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and other sites
  • Diagnosing and finding solutions for mechanical issues
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako:

  • Level 3 qualification in relevant trade
  • Practical skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • The ability to follow technical manuals and engineering drawings
  • Computer literate and able to maintain electronic records
  • Working within a Permit to Work system
  • A background or strong interest in Reliability Engineering is a plus, but not essential

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $75,675 and $81,560.
