Kāpiti Coast District Council leads and represents its community, delivering the day‑to‑day infrastructure, planning and services that shape the district for a thriving environment, vibrant economy and strong communities. The Council plays a central role in shaping how people live, work and connect in the area by providing essential services, facilities and community infrastructure that support daily life.
 
The Strategy and Growth Group provides strategic oversight, advising on how the Kāpiti Coast grows into the future and ensuring resilient, well‑designed development that supports community needs. Its work ensures the district grows in a coordinated, future‑focused way by aligning planning, housing, land use and economic development so the Kāpiti Coast can meet the needs of its community.


Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

Based in Kāpiti and reporting to the Director Strategic Development, the Manager Ventures and Partnerships leads the commercial, investment and strategic property work that underpins sustainable growth in the district. Alongside providing advice on major commercial opportunities, the role provides strategic insight into Council‑owned land and property, shaping decisions on strategic acquisition, disposal, redevelopment and long‑term land use. They’ll build strong partnerships bringing a commercially astute and solutions‑focused approach to complex development and investment opportunities. They’ll also lead a skilled team delivering strategic initiatives, property and investment strategies and business growth and attraction programmes that influence how Kāpiti grows over time.
 
This is a unique opportunity to combine commercial  analysis, strategic partnerships and community impact in one role.
 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Experience in managing complex projects, risks and business analysis
  • Experience in commercial, financial and investment advisory roles
  • Sound commercial experience including the establishment of subsidiaries, commercial investment models and property transactions
  • Ability to manage information from multiple parallel work streams into clear, simple overviews
  • Ability to effectively support commercial partnerships with iwi, iwi‑affiliated entities, investors and developers
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal at all levels.
  • Political sensitivity, with a flexible, adaptable and pragmatic approach
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
