Manager Strategy & Policy/Kaiwhakahaere Rautaki me te Kaupapahere
Porirua's changing. Thanks to new housing developments, large scale regeneration projects and new transport links, it's rapidly growing into a diverse, well-connected city with big opportunities.
With all that in mind, Porirua City Council is rejuvenating and expanding to prepare for its future growth and continue to develop a resilient, liveable city for our future generations. We're at an exciting crossroads as we move towards operating as a medium-growth council to a high-growth one, and it means big changes to the way we do business and work.
With new future-focused Government initiatives and policies, it's time for a more generalist and flexible approach to our policy team. We need a team who can adapt and apply their skills to a range of topics.
So we need a leader for that team who can own and embrace change as we get ready to think and work differently. You'll be a straight thinker and a resilient type who's used to a legal regulatory environment, can foresee potential issues and challenges, and who really understands customer service. We always put the customer at the centre of our thinking, so we need smart people who are innovative and want to make things better.
It's a role for a politically savvy, energetic leader who's excellent at getting other people on board with your ideas and sharing your enthusiasm for policy. You'll have the written language skills to not only tell a good story, but translate policy into language people can understand.
Ideally, you'll bring experience in local government, but you could also be joining us from central government. If local government, you'll really appreciate the opportunity to build on your skills in an up-and-coming growth council, and use your experience to improve the way we work. If you're coming from central government, you'll be excited at the prospect of being able to see the results of your work almost immediately, and the connection to the community you'll feel.
This is the kind of opportunity that might only come along once in a career. It could be a complete game-changer for you; you'll be directly shaping the direction of Porirua's growth for generations to come, and with your energy and drive you could do great things.
