He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Investment in infrastructure has long-term consequences for Auckland's future, and will shape how well Auckland functions for future generations. Decisions on the future of Auckland’s infrastructure are city-shaping, long-lasting and expensive, requiring careful and thorough consideration.
We are seeking an outstanding strategic thinker to provide advice on how to ensure the investment into Auckland’s infrastructure will underpin council’s broader city goals such as ensuring the efficient integration of land use and transport infrastructure, reducing environmental degradation and enabling greater economic prosperity.
This is a unique role at Auckland Council and will be its pre-eminent strategic and technical expert on infrastructure issues. You will provide strategic, compelling advice to the Mayor, councillors and the senior managers on a range of matters relating to Auckland’s infrastructure needs. As you can see it is not a role for the faint hearted due to its importance both to Auckland Council and the wider public.
In addition, as a Manager, you will develop and lead a small team of professionals in a manner that ensures the effective delivery of a complex and significant workload.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will bring significant experience in advising senior decision makers on complex strategy and policy matters related to infrastructure. Experience in advising on three waters infrastructure is highly desirable. Building relationships and working collaboratively will be second nature to you. You will have well developed political acumen, be savvy and have the ability to communicate complex issues in simple but persuasive manner. A genuine passion and interest in the future of Auckland’s infrastructure is crucial to the role. You will enjoy developing and coaching a small team that will be at the heart of some of Auckland’s most important future decisions, both strategically and financially.
