Due to the relocation of our current Finance Manager, we are currently seeking a dedicated and calm Finance Manager to lead the Finance Business Unit and provide key financial information and strategic advice to Council and the Senior Leadership team to support effective decision-making.
Kō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
Reporting to the Group Manager Corporate Services, you will oversee a great Business Unit of 22 team members and lead 4 direct reports consisting of Team Leaders in revenue, payables, and accounting, and a Procurement and Contracts Adviser. You will be central to enabling the Business Unit to provide efficient and high-quality accounting, financial, analytical, procurement and contract services throughout the organisation and meet statutory compliance, and value for money for ratepayers.
In addition, you will provide strategic advice to Council, the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team in respect of the Council’s finances, while being accountable for the financial aspects of the Long Term Plan, Annual Plans and Annual Report. You’ll be responsible for ensuring we meet our financial Key Performance Indicators and achieve statutory compliance with a satisfactory annual audit.

With proven experience leading professional teams, you will be passionate about motivating, engaging and developing people to reach their highest potential.

- Your people leadership expertise within a Local Government or sizable commercial or public service organisation
- Your excellent communication skills (business report writing, ability to tell a story using financial data, quickly building positive working relationships with internal teams and external partners)
- Your finance management background (including forecasting, finance systems savvy, designing reports, consolidating financial statements)
- Chartered Accountant qualification in New Zealand
- Being a trusted and credible adviser to a senior leadership team.

This is a full-time permanent position, 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday.
