He angitūtanga | The opportunity:

Are you an experienced finance professional with a passion for high quality reporting, asset management and continuous improvement? We’re looking for a proactive Management and Assets Accountant to join our Finance team on a contract for up to 12 months or in a permanent role, available for an immediate start.

In this position, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our financial insights, supporting strategic decision making, and ensuring our asset information is accurate, reliable and future ready. Working closely with managers, budget holders and asset teams, you’ll provide trusted financial advice, deliver high quality reporting, and contribute to major organisational documents such as the Long-Term Plan and Annual Report.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, values collaboration, and is looking to grow their career in local government finance.

He kōrero mōu | About you:

  • Tertiary accounting and / or finance qualification, preferably with a major in accounting.
  • CA, CPA or CMA is preferred.
  • At least 5 years practical post-qualification experience in accounting or finance roles, including management accountant experience.
  • Proven experience, knowledge or understanding of budget preparation. financial reporting and use of accounting systems.
  • Experience in using financial reporting software (e.g. MagiQ Performance).
  • Project management skills are an advantage.
