Land Use Consents Team Leader (South)
Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council) serves a large and diverse area covering key towns such as Raglan, Huntly, Ngaaruawaahia, Tuakau and Te Kauwhata. Smaller settlements include Gordonton, Matangi, Tamahere, Meremere, Port Waikato and Pookeno.

About this role:
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Land Use Consents Team Leader (South) in our Development Support team, and are excited to offer you the chance to be part of not only this great team working across our district, but also a great organisation.
This role will be responsible for leading the Land Use Consents Teams covering the Southern part of our district to deliver Land Use approvals in accordance with the Resource Management Act and Waikato District Plan. This includes the provision of duty planning services, pre application requests, assessment of applications, management of hearings and appeals, and comprehensive handovers of approved consents to the Monitoring Team.
What I do?
In this role you will be overseeing and supporting the 'South' Land Use Consent Planning team to deliver our customers with consistent, timely, and high quality services.
Part of the role will involve collaborating with our Infrastructure Development team and asset owners to support economic growth and infrastructure development within our communities. This will involve engaging with developers to understand their needs, and facilitating the team to deliver customer focused consent approval services.
You will also get involved in the management of hearings and appeals, and providing sound planning advice and dispute resolution services to Council staff and customers.
What I bring?
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification with significant experience working with the RMA, including local authority statutory planning. You will be a member of the NZ Planning Institute and have proven yourself as someone who can effectively lead, support and develop a team. You'll love being able to meet customer needs and help our support our district.

Location: Ngaaruawaahia
Hours of work: Full time, permanent, 40 Hours per week
