We’re looking for a self-motivated, team player to join our busy resource consents team based in beautiful Te Aroha.

About the role

In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll manage a diverse range of land use and subdivision consents and provide expert advice to customers on resource management matters. You’ll mentor and support other planners, promote high-quality and consistent planning assessments, and work collaboratively with applicants, consultants, engineers, policy planners, iwi, and the wider community. With many large rural industries across our district, you’ll have the opportunity to work on interesting and complex projects that make a meaningful difference. You’ll also help implement resource management legislation, support continuous improvement, and ensure Council meets its statutory obligations while enabling sustainable growth and development.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • At least five years’ experience in resource consents planning
  • Strong knowledge of the Resource Management Act and related legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive approach and strong customer focus
