The opportunity - Te āheinga
At New Plymouth District Council, we're dedicated to showcasing the unique cultural and natural heritage of our region. Our Cultural Experiences Team plays a pivotal role in connecting visitors with the vibrant stories, landscapes, and communities that define Taranaki. We're looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to join our i-Site team on a casual basis, helping to create memorable experiences for visitors.
As a Casual i-Site Visitor Industry Representative, you'll be the go-to source for expert advice, information, and connections to the best that Taranaki has to offer, all from the heart of New Plymouth's i-site and box office, located within the Puke Ariki Museum.
Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua:
- Provide outstanding customer service that consistently exceeds visitor expectations
- Be a champion and cheerleader for all that Puke Ariki and Taranaki has to offer visitors
- Process event, travel and tourism experience bookings and tickets
- Support retail sales and activities from the Puke Ariki Store
- Clearly communicate information with a wide range of people and personalities
- Stay up to date with visitor and event industry news, information and technologies
Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako:
- Excellent regional and national tourism knowledge and an understanding of where latest tourism information is accessed
- Track record of delivering great customer service and/or travel/tourism industry experience
- Proven ability to work with online booking systems
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori an advantage
