The Grey District is the Heart of the West Coast and is rich in history and character.  Key industries are health care and social assistance, retail, construction, education, manufacturing and services industries.

The Council’s mission is: “We are one exceptional team, providing outstanding customer service to our community, Grey District”.

This is a new position created with Council’s focus on ensuring that the organisation is fit for the future as a customer-focussed organisation ready to address the challenges and opportunities ahead for the District.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the incumbent will lead the Finance Team along with a Lease and Land Advisor and an ICT department.  The role is ultimately responsible for developing and executing financial planning and strategies to support the Council’s goals while also ensuring compliance with financial reporting regulations.

A great opportunity to step into an executive role, working with a focused and energetic Chief Executive and Leadership Team passionate about the future of Greymouth and the wider region.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance professional and natural people leader who enjoys bringing people together and fostering a positive workplace culture.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Ideally a working knowledge of the strategic planning processes of Local Government
  • A track record of success mentoring and leading a team

Benefits:

At the heart of this role is the ability to forge strong community ties and deliver positive outcomes for the Grey District community.  More than that, this is an opportunity to have real impact on the development of a region.

And, of course, on the weekends you can ‘go bush’ and experience first-hand all the wonderful outdoor activities the Grey District is famous for.
