Group Financial Controller

We are looking for a Group Financial Controller to join our talented Finance Team. The Christchurch City Council is one of the largest employers in the South Island and this role offers a complexity and diversity rarely seen in the Christchurch market.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this could be the stepping stone you are looking for on your journey to becoming a CFO.
This is a varied and complex role that will suit an individual who enjoys engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal teams across Council, as well as external parties such as Council’s banking and professional service providers, its subsidiary companies, Council organisations and the Auditor. The role carries responsibility for a wide range of functions from preparing Council’s annual report including its consolidated financial statements and summary annual report — key publications that inform our community on how we are performing, ensuring the integrity of the asset register for financial reporting, to overseeing Council’s insurance requirements, tax compliance and transactional accounting. The size and diversity of Council’s activities makes this a professionally rewarding position.

Are you a talented leader and an experienced CA or equivalent finance professional with exemplary standards who is looking to work for an organisation that supports development and growth?
Ideally you'll have several years’ relevant experience with large local government or public sector organisations and/or large commercial businesses. You'll bring energy and enthusiasm to the team as well as a strong desire to continue improving systems and processes.

- Hours of work - Permanent Fulltime Position
- Location - This position is based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch Central
- Salary- The salary band for this position goes from $156,350- $173,722 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
