Geospatial Analyst


About the role:

As a Geospatial Analyst reporting to the Geospatial Lead, you will have the opportunity to create innovative solutions and leverage your initiative to achieve outstanding results for our community and council. You will collaborate with vendors and fellow geospatial professionals, enhancing your skills along the way.

We are committed to advancing our Digital Strategy and enhancing the digital services we provide to our community. A key part of this initiative involves significant investment in our geospatial data to ensure we deliver accurate and relevant information to our residents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement geospatial related projects for various business units across council.
  • Provide support for Council's geospatial solutions and applications in line with customer and business requirements
  • Communicate best practice in geospatial practices including process governance, data management and quality
  • Maintain the currency, accuracy and integrity of councils geospatial data
  • Develop and implement small to medium GIS user portals that provide custom delivery and analysis for communities of interest.

About you:

Our geospatial team is part of the Digital Services group, which fosters a collaborative learning environment where knowledge sharing and innovative ideas are highly encouraged. You will have numerous opportunities to develop your skills through a diverse range of tasks and professional growth initiatives.

You will bring:

  • A tertiary degree in an appropriate discipline (ie Geospatial, Geography papers)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in GIS or in roles where GIS plays a key part
  • A strong understanding of GIS software and its applications
  • Skills in interpreting and capturing data from imagery
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data sets effectively
  • Sound knowledge of projections, datums and core datasets
