The opportunity - Te āheinga
We’re looking for a Facilities Management Lead to join our dynamic Property Team. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead a team of seven direct reports and five Hall Custodians, driving excellence in the management of Council facilities, plant and equipment, the Housing for the Elderly portfolio and our fleet assets.
You’ll be responsible for delivering robust facilities management planning and ensuring all assets are maintained to industry standards, efficiently, cost-effectively and within budget.
This is a leadership role where you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on oversight, fostering a high-performing team and contributing to the long-term success of our property and fleet portfolios.
Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua
- Oversee reactive and planned maintenance for all buildings, plant and equipment
- Maintain and manage facilities and fleet databases, including reporting and statistics
- Ensure service contracts, building maintenance and fleet management are current and compliant
- Monitor and manage occupancy costs within budget
- Coordinate major works with project managers and minor projects within the team
- Lead and develop the Facilities Management team, including Hall Custodians, through mentoring and coaching
- Support strategic planning for property and fleet portfolios, including Housing for the Elderly assets
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and good employer obligations
Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako
- Tertiary qualification in facilities management and or a trades background
- At least five years’ experience managing a property portfolio
- Knowledge of building contracts
- Previous experience leading a team

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $112,646 and $121,406.
