We’re looking for an Engineering Officer to join the Wellington Flood Protection team, fixed term to 30 June 2022. This role is based in our Lower Hutt depot.

About the role:
The Engineering Officer sits in the Operations Planning team. This is a hands on and varied role which will be involved in asset management, health, safety and wellness systems and also assisting in supporting our new river management resource consents. The department is in a period of substantial change in these areas and Engineering Officer will support the wider Operations team through this change. They will also provide general engineering support in the form of project and contract management, managing gravel extraction activities, liaising with landowners, and assisting with the operational response in flood events.
Skills and experience required:
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with others – both within and outside of Greater Wellington. They will also have project and construction management experience and a high level of computer literacy.
You will also need:
· A relevant engineering qualification in civil or natural resources
· Experience with asset management information systems, processes and reporting
· Understanding of resource consent management, compliance and reporting
· Be self-motivated and have the ability to work without close supervision
