The Contracts Manager - Roading is a new role reporting to Council’s Roading Manager and a great opportunity for someone to make a significant difference to how we best provide services and manage the related contracts. We know there is always room for improvement, so we are looking to grow our in-house contract management maturity and maximise value for goods and services needed to support our residents and visitors to the district.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Roading team to procure and manage a variety of interesting and challenging roading contracts, encompassing professional services, road maintenance and construction.
You will assist the Roading Manager with effective management of Council's roading infrastructure in a small, dedicated team.
The successful candidate will have:

- Experience in the procurement and management of professional services and physical works contracts
- Working knowledge of CCCS (Conditions of Contract for Consultancy Services); NZS3917; NZS3910
- Working knowledge of RAMM and the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).
- Experience in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and working closely with local communities.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
Thames-Coromandel's roading team, including our contractors, deals with 504km of sealed and 200km of unsealed roads, used by residents and visitors in one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand. Working in local authority every day is a rewarding challenge, with our stakeholders and customers providing a variety of opportunities to showcase your roading expertise and grow as a person at the same time.
As well as being a fantastic job opportunity, working for TCDC has other benefits - you get to work and live (if you don't already) in the Coromandel, often described a taste of paradise due to its stunning landscape!
This is an opportunity to work in a great community focused organisation. We are dedicated to building an inclusive team culture and thrive on agility, promote flexibility, diversity, and deliver high performance.
We offer a range of benefits that staff can access that focus on supporting you and your family to live the life you choose.
