Compliance Operations Manager

Whanganui District Council is seeking a Compliance Operations Manager with proven leadership experience to join its Regulatory & Planning Group and lead the Compliance/Operations Team. The position may be required to fulfil the role of Chief Alcohol Licensing Inspector, depending on qualifications and experience.

Reporting to the Group Manager Regulatory & Planning, the Compliance Operations Manager leads a diverse team of animal management, parking services, environmental health and supporting administration staff. Key responsibilities include leading compliance investigations, developing regulatory-related policies and processes, quality assurance and ensuring Council's alcohol licensing functions are discharged effectively, in accordance with statutory requirements.

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of local government regulatory legislation, investigation and enforcement procedures, risk management and quality management systems, as well as advanced mediation skills. A focus on continuous improvement and customer service is essential, as is proven leadership qualities. Management experience is highly desired.
