Nelson City Council is a Unitary Authority at the heart of the region, responsible for providing key infrastructure, community facilities and services, economic development and a range of regulatory functions including for land use and resource management.
Striving to deliver even better infrastructure to their community, Nelson City Council have introduced a new service delivery model to help achieve their Council endorsed infrastructure capital and renewal projects. The infrastructure projects including three waters, roading, and traffic improvements, walking and cycle ways, parks, and playground installations, facilities and building upgrades. This is an exciting time of positive change and they are looking for a new Team Leader Capital Projects.
The purpose of the role will be to lead a small team of motivated and capable civil engineers and project managers responsible for the delivery of the Council’s capital and renewals programme.
Reporting to an empowering and commercial savvy Manager Capital Projects, you will be responsible for supporting a team to successfully manage projects delivered by external contractors. Ideally, you are a qualified Civil Engineer or have outstanding capital works project management delivery experience and it would be advantageous if you have previously worked in a consultancy or PMO environment that had a continuous improvement focus.
This is a very good role for either an experienced Team Leader (looking for a new role) or a Senior Project Manager (looking for a career step forward) who possesses the mix of technical, financial, team leadership and relationship management skills essential to thrive in this role.
